    Dorothy Falls Stream

A stunning little cascade perhaps 2 minutes walk from the road.

Since some extensive landslips during flooding, this waterfall has effectively disappeared, this particular stream bed altered beyond recognition
    Dorothy Falls

Last time I made my way to this cascade it was filling hte gully and thundering across the rocky stream bed - keeping the camera dry became too great a challenge to even contemplate making an image!

This is a 3-shot shift-panorama, using a Canon TS-E 24mm, f/13, 1.6s

    Bridal Veil Falls

Tucked away in a hidden location in the Catlins lies this beautiful treat. It's not an easy approach to the falls, but very rewarding once you're there.

As you would expect from the name, this is a multi-tiered waterfall. This, the second tier, was in my opinion the most majestic of the three, however the lower tier is significantly higher.

    Lower Mcleans Falls

The stunning moss-covered wall at the foot of Mcleans falls. With heavy rain, extra streams form along the rim of the wall, trickling through the different steps of the rock

WF001
    Gouland Downs Cave Falls

In amongst an ancient limestone outcrop at Gouland downs on the Heaphy track is this hidden gem, cascading out of a cave mouth formed from the eroding rock

WF002
    Koropuku Falls

Nestled away in the Catlins is this picturesque cascade, a great swimming spot in summer but an even better photographic spot when it's quiet

WF003
    Lower Mcleans Falls

Looking upstram towards the next tier in the falls gives a great sense of the peace and age of this part of the countryside

    Free Fall: Upper Mcleans Falls

A detail of the silky ribbon-like waters from the top cascade

WF006
    Purakanui Falls Grotto

Tucked away on the true left of the falls is a mossy grotto, peaking out from amonsgt the braches and leaves at the falls
