    Central Otago in Autumn

Just wanted to share a few images from a recent trip down to Central Otago over Easter weekend this year. The area is just stunning and we were graced with some great weather, including a seriously chilly morning up above Alexandra. The trees put on a spectacular display around the region! Anyway, here's a few scenes to enjoy! #CentralOtago #Autumn #yellow #landscape #NewZealand

    Getting High for New Year!

What a gorgeous start to 2018 we're getting in the South Island of NZ. With family in the UK, this year's Christmas break has again been a fantastic opportunity to capitalise on most people staying home with the whanau and instead head out into the hills. After a long think about possible destinations we took a firend's advice and headed up to Murchison and then into the Matiri Valley and the 1000-acre plateau for a 4 night trip. It's always tough trying to second-guess what

A face only a mother could love...

What's that expression? A face only a mother could love... incredibly in just a few short weeks these poorly bedraggled tufts of fluff will be taking flight. We finally managed to arrange a trip to Okarito recently, for a trip out to the Whataroa White Heron sanctuary with Dion from http://whiteherontours.co.nz/. Despite the (let's face it pretty hideous) weather, many of the stunning white heron (Kotuku) were there and nesting. The first chicks hatched about 4 days' prior to

    Feeling very honoured today!

Wow, I am completely overwhelmed and honoured. My image from Nugget Point in the Catlins has been awarded Champion image in the 2017 Laurie Thomas New Zealand National Landscape Competition! Over 640 entries were received and I feel very flattered that this image stood out among such a high quality field. The competition has been running for 21 years as a lasting memory of Laurie Thomas, a member of the Christchurch Photographic Society and early pioneer of the Photographic S

    Winter warmers

Looking out across the Maori Lakes near Methven, Canterbury, New Zealand. The thin scrim of ice on the lake wasn't nearly as big when we first arrived, and my toes weren't very happy standing in the shores of the lake waiting for dawn. Even so, it's always a good experience to get out into the hills and enjoy the countryside. I haven't explored this area much, and at only a couple of hours' drive from home I really don't have a good excuse.. #sunrise #ice #wintermorning #NewZ
